When I think of the future I question whether the next generation will have the satisfaction of watching a warped VHS. This Classixx video reminds me of my childhood. Or, at the very least its the notion of something lost, but with a soulful beat.
Its been a very dry winter here in Sonoma. There was no rain in December and there has been an utter lack of remorse from the rain clouds this January.
Temperatures have consistently dropped as night fades over the Valley, but the condensation that we require for growing beautiful, fruitful…
In my exploration of all things “pickled” and “local”, I have the opportunity to indulge in local delicacies on a weekly basis. There really are no shortage of kickshaw moments.
Recently I found a relatively-new pickle company based out of Alexander Valley in Sonoma County by the name of Sonoma Brinery. They have recently changed their name from Alexander Valley Gourmet. Their pickles are carried at my local favorite - Sonoma Market.
I must say, it was a great “Manhattan-Style” fresh pickle experience. Their brining process is very simple. Fresh ingredients, refrigeration and crunch. A good crunch too.
One thing I am curious about, is, What exactly is a manhattan-styled pickle? Does that mean its intended to be purchased at a deli? I mean this semi-rhetorically, since I did happen to live in NYC for the better part of the last decade, but alternatively I am always looking to expand my pickle knowledge.
Its particularly awesome that local folks are jumping on the pickle bandwagon. We need more people in this industry. Its high-growth, fun, exciting and entrepreneurial in nature. What more could you ask for? Oh yeah, you can eat what you sow…AND we have some of the best growing conditions in the country out here in the Sonoma/Marin areas.
More profiles to come. I am thinking about reaching out to the Sonoma Brinery and taking a proper tour of their premises.
I love books.
Totally ganked this photo from a posting over at Apartment Therapy. At least I am giving attribution, right?
Fast Forward to 2 minutes and you hear my resolution for 2012!

Amen. Preaching to the choir. Nice mini-van dude.
As posted the other day, I was going to provide a gypsy cab service to the city of San Francisco for New Year’s Eve in a bootstrapping attempt to raise money for Kristian Pickles.
The end results were mixed, but positive on the whole.

Bootstrapping a start-up is never as glamorous as one may think. Money is always tight and its important for me to make smart decisions right now that will affect the running of Kristian Pickles.
In order to raise money for the company I have decided to forgo a traditional New Year’s Eve…
