How to Find Druid Heights in Muir Woods

It was recently published in the Marin IJ that some folks are attempting to get Druid Heights registered as a National Historic Site. The property itself already lies within a National Park, but its falling apart. Many of the properties on the five acre parcel are dilapidated.

Only a few people still live in the area and this is through a living-easement (no one else is allowed to live there after the original folks die).

Unfortunately for us curious people, the article does not tell us how to access our public National Park!?

Respecting residents’ privacy and the delicacy of the aging structures, the park keeps its exact location under wraps.”

So, fuck that. Its a matter of public information. Thus, I did some research on the National Park Service Planning website and found in the Draft General Management Plan/Environmental Impact Statment the exact address.

If You Go:

Muir Woods is located 11 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Take Highway 101 to the Highway 1/ Stinson Beach Exit. Follow the signs to Muir Woods. Before you hit the Woods parking lot there is a sign that says “Camino Del Canon”. Its a dirt road and marked by some mail boxes and a Park Service sign that reads ” Service Vehicles Only”.

Make sure you print out the image. There aren’t any numbers. This is intentional, since the Park Service and residents do not want you to find this place.

Take some pictures.
