California Native Foods is the brainchild of my childhood friend Aaron Gilliam.
We grew up in Marin together and have both decided that working outside and producing wholesome, organic and sustainable goods is where its at. He is big on fresh meats and charcuterie.
Aaron dropped off three 5 1/2 lb chickens to my house today. Tonight I am going to have a feast with my parents. Its a Freedom Ranger chicken, which is pretty awesome.
Freedom Ranger chickens came about in the 1960s over in France and are known for their roaming and ranging capabilities. They are commonly produced as alternatives to Cornish Cross and are slow growing (ending around 4-5lb).
Tomorrow I’ll have a feast with my friends in San Francisco and the third chicken will be a gift.
