Stage 1 : Tour of California

It was miserably cold and rainy today across the 107 miles covered by the Peloton during Stage 1 of the Amgen Tour of California.

It was a great victory for Rock Racing’s star - Francisco Mancebo - who led the pack throughout the entire day.

In the women’s crit - which took place in downtown Santa Rosa - the winner was Emilia Fahlin from Sweden riding for Columbia-Highroad.

The young rider of the day was taken by Rabobank’s Robert Gesink. Funny because the award was sponsored by Rabobank. He’s only 26 which doesn’t seem too young - since I am 26.

It was great twittering the results and photos as they happened. The communications were down today for race officials, so I was on top of the news more than the race organizers.
